This is an exciting opportunity to join ATLEU’s legal team as a Paralegal/ Caseworker. The role involves providing public law and housing advice and representation to survivors of trafficking and slavery under a legal aid contract. The role is for someone who has a passion for law, is looking to progress quickly and has an appetite to learn how the law can be used to improve the lives of survivors of trafficking.

The ideal candidate would be someone with between 1 and 3 year’s legal experience with knowledge of or lived experience of our client group. We welcome applications from people at the start of their careers with a genuine commitment to our client group and people who may be able to draw on a range of relevant experience outside a legal office. We particularly welcome applicants from those who are significantly underrepresented in our sector, such as individuals from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities.

The Paralegal/Caseworker will provide legal and administrative support to ATLEU’s casework team, primarily in relation to public law and housing and is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside and support trafficking specialists. This is a fee earning role.

The casework will predominantly be advice on the UK’s duties to survivors of trafficking and provision for survivors through the National Referral Mechanism (the UK system for identifying and supporting survivors of trafficking) as well as carrying out judicial review work which will encompass challenges on identification and obtaining appropriate housing, subsistence and support.

An interest in working as part of a small charity team and supporting colleagues within that is important.

This position offers the right candidate an exceptional opportunity to develop their legal skills and knowledge working with ATLEU’s dynamic legal team.

We are looking for someone who can start as soon as possible.
